Hi there,
If you are on this page, you have probably been at one of my Workshops through the Brisbane City Council – well done !
Here is information about the council programs I speak about, with some links for you.
Cheers – and again good on you for giving it a go !

Council Tip Shops – Reduced price worm farm or composting bin:
You can get a neat little voucher through where you did one of the BCC programs that gets you the following cheaper prices:
$85 $60 Stacking Worm Farm (two working trays plus leachate collection tray)
$60 $45 Composting Bin (known as the “Dalek” in some circles, this cold composter is a great place for extra food that won;’t go in your worm farm.)
Also remember Endeavour Foundation gets between $5-6 out of the sale too ! (so you’re helping the less fortunate as well ! )
The tip shops are at Geebung and Acacia Ridge – you may even find something you can give a new lease of life to !
Info about this program can be found on the Council website here:

Compost/Food Scrap Caddy – Community Composting Hubs
The little caddy makes a great way to collect your scraps. You can then get them into the Community Composting Hubs.
These are available by ordering them through the council website and can either be collected at a Council Ward Office, or at one of the Community Composting Hubs.
Grab more info from Council here, including finding a hub near you, & registering for the system and collecting a caddy:

Community Composting Hubs
This is such a top idea by Council.
At certain places, like Environment Centers or Community Gardens, the Council has set up composting systems.
The idea is that if you are unsure about how to compost, you could go there to learn.
And while you are learning, you can take your caddy full of scraps there to be composted (one less caddy-full going to landfill – yay ! )
You could also value the composting hubs if you are an apartment dweller, having no space to have your own system.

Community Gardens
These are a great way for people to either become involved in a garden or to learn how to garden – or just to socialize !
