CFT Wheelie Bin Workshop (possibly with a $70 BCC rebate) & Aerated Castings Tea Workshops.
Please tell me if you want me to put them on . . .
New Workshops: 1. Wheelie Bin CFT Worm Farming Workshop – where you get a wheelie bin to take home, with worms, all ready to go – and get taught about worms and how to use the system. 2. Aerated Castings Tea Workshop – where you get a tea brewer and castings to take home to treat your garden over many brews – and get taught about this valuable resource to expand the application of your compost or castings. An ADDED BONUS for this workshop is that qualifying residents of Brisbane Council may be able to get a $70 rebate on the worm farm purchase price included in the ticket! I’m possibly putting the CFT one on in November, pending interest. If I have enough interest I could run the Aerated Teas one in March next year. It will be in the Brisbane area, likely at Forest Lake, where I have held Workshops previously. I may not be able to run these workshops until I get enough interest – so please “write in” if you’re interested in attending the CFT Wheelie Bin one in particular, so I can move on that one.
What have I been doing recently?
Reading Pauly’s great new book, “Brown Thumb, Green Thumb”
Im about half way through reading Pauly Piccirillo’s newly published Ebook, “Brown Thumb Green Thumb” It’s a great new book by someone that’s been in the worm industry a long time – my long-time worm friend, Pauly Piccirillo. Pauly has become a worm farming teacher with all of the books that he has written. Pauly loves growing his own food at home and over the many years he has been in the worm industry has developed a keen understanding of soil biology and how worms, soils and plants fit together. That’s where this new book comes in. I highly recommend it. Pauly has written other books, which I have read and recommend – you’ll find the new one and the old ones listed on my website in the E-books section at Check it out here:
Designing & developing the two-day workshop
LOTS of work on the two-day-mega workshop. So much work ! (also see the workshop update above) A lot goes into the design and development process, before it is shown to the first batch of students. I have “chunked” out the subjects into the two day design for the time table. I’m currently expanding on several areas at once, collecting and documenting how-to information, creating and publishing new info-sheets into the new Virtual Student’s Portal. I’ve also been collecting a few missing props and organising supplies for the students. Yes, that far ahead!
As I sit and write – we have been in a COVID Lockdown in Brisbane
Well, I’m in Brisbane Australia, and we are in the strictest lockdown to date. Delta variant and all that jazz. No I’m not interested in debating COVID science with you. We decided to get the injections, to protect ourselves and our older relatives. I am sure it will end up being mandatory for people to work with kids like we do in the educational activities etc.
The Green Heart Fair featuring environmental education for kids & adults – organised by the large council here, Brisbane City Council.
The Green Heart Fair featuring environmental education, is organized by the large city council here, Brisbane City Council. – I met Dirtgirl & Scrapboy from “Dirt Girl World” – a popular kid’s show – I provided a fun, educational activity “Grass Head Pets”. – I spoke on stage twice, about waste, composting, worms, bokashi and council programs to reduce waste; with reference to different solutions for different sized households, from apartments to large acreage. Check the kids activities at:
Upcoming Local Events That I Am Doing
Unfortunately, I have had some large and small events postponed or cancelled due to the COVID lockdown. Events coming up in October are: – Brisbane City Council Kids Collective – Make A Mini Worm Farm To Take Home With Worms – watch the BCC website for ticketing – this is always a full event. – Brisbane Council Libraries small workshops (for adults) – watch the BCC Libraries website for ticketing. I cannot publish these events ahead of time as I am working with other organisations – so keep your eyes peeled for when I can “share” these events on my facebook page close to the date.
