Suited For / Is THIS You?

Are you sick of putting food and garden waste into landfill?

You may want to learn how to generate a beneficial soil conditioner for your garden from your waste ….

Worm Farming & Composting reduces household waste and helps gardens to thrive.

This course will be of interest to keen gardeners, who want to recycle their waste into a beneficial soil conditioner containing plant available nutrients and several naturally occurring plant rooting & growth hormones.

Waste warriors will enjoy how much waste can be placed in this worm farm, especially when compared to the “average” stacking plastic bins (over 4 times as much waste!)

This farm is SO MUCH EASIER to operate than the plastic stacking ones !

Join me in this workshop, as I share practical knowledge, tips and tricks for setting up your own safe and efficient worm farm at home.

I will show you how to avoid some of the common mistakes people make and also teach you a lot about worms.

WHAT IS A CFT Wheelie Bin & What Does It DO For You ?

A CFT is an amazing system.

By the way, CFT stands for Continuous Flow Through. Some people call them a Flow Through Reactor.

It’s scientifically proven that a CFT’s population is able to be twice that of a normal bin/batch system of the same surface area.

When you compare a Wheelie Bin CFT to a “normal black rectangular stacking bin sold in Australia”, a CFT wheelie bin can hold up to 4 times the worms. This means they eat 4 times the waste and create 4 times the castings !!!!

I have found that a Wheelie Bin CFT is SO MUCH EASIER than the stacking type of farm for people to run successfully.

On top of that, it is easy to harvest as you don’t have to separate worms from the VC. You get very few to no worms in the CFT harvest if managed correctly.

Another advantage is that most eggs should have hatched by the time you harvest too. So you aren’t losing any of your worms or cocoons when you harvest.

Cancellation Due To COVID Lockdown

In the case of a government mandated lockdown, where the event is not allowed to go ahead by law, students will be offered a refund or to transfer their ticket and complete the workshop on new date to be published afterwards.

PLEASE NOTE – Design:

The bin’s new design (“Version 3”) includes an extra large vent in the lid, with a reinforcing strap – eliminating the vents in the body of the old design.

Worm farms are best used out of the rain.

If you need a rain proof lid, talk to Brian. No extra fees apply to produce a bin “in the old style” for you, but I need time to do one. If not completed in time for the workshop, you could pickup from Collingwood Park anytime after the workshop.

The Bin I Use Is New . . .

Yep, I couldn’t get hold of any more New/Upcycled bins.    So the bins I use are brand new Sulo bins.

Moving The Bins Once Full Not Recommended:

Bins are not recommended to be moved once filled, they are too heavy for the axles & wheels – leave it in one spot or empty out to move.
