PLEASE NOTE: Mini Tea Bags are sold “filled” OR “empty”. If “filled”, they hold approx. 1 cup worm castings.
Compost is not used, you supply that yourself. The bags are reusable many times over, filled with your own worm castings or compost.
Whether you are making Aerated Tea from Worm Castings OR Compost – these bags are for you !
Suitable for Aerated Castings/Compost Tea, Non-Aerated Castings/Compost Tea & Castings/Compost Water Extracts.
Castings is screened to 6.5mm.
Do A Brew For Up To 250 Square Metres Of Garden !!
The Mini Tea Bags hold approx. 1 cup of worm castings.
That’s big enough for a 5-15 litre brew, that can be applied to up to 65 square metres of garden as a ground drench, or a 250 square metres as a foliar application !
Of course you can apply it to smaller areas, you really cant use too much Aerated Tea, as it won’t burn plants – just don’t drown them!
BREWING & RECIPES TABLE:
Overview:
These Mini Tea Bags are a great way to give your garden a boost.
They are reusable, if looked after should last many brews.
Worm Castings can make soils and plants healthier, reducing pests and diseases naturally.
Naturally stronger and pest resistant plants fed worm castings need less fertiliser (up to 25% less) and need intervention less often, leading to less chemical use, leading to healthier soils and stronger plants – continually boosting each other. We feed the soil to feed than plants.
Written Instructions Supplied !!
You get a printed copy of the product info sheet, explaining the easiest way to use the Mini Tea Bags, a Castings Water Extract.
PLUS you get a copy of the Aerated Castings Tea Quick Start Instructions.
The instructions go into making Castings Water Extracts, Non-Aerated Castings Tea (NACT) & Aerated Castings Tea (ACT).
Of course you can make the same products from COMPOST instead of WORM CASTINGS.
It gives you step-by-step instructions to brew your first tea, including a handy reference chart for different sized brews, recipes & application rates/areas.
It teaches you about the simplest way to apply Worm Castings in a Water Extract – to the middle ground of Non-Aerated Castings Tea (you probably have everything you need to do NACT !) – to the most sophisticated option of Aerated Castings Tea !
(Pump & Aerator Kits sold separately.)
Hole Size:
These bags have the perfect hole size to allow the free passage of microbes, but restrict a lot of the castings from going into the brew.
If you want to use a sprayer or pump, or a watering can with a fine rose, some straining is beneficial, so you don’t get blockages.
These bags keep a lot of the castings or compost back, making final straining easier.
SOME OPTIONS FOR USING THESE TEA BAGS:
Castings Water Extract (In A Bucket Of Water/Watering Can):
A Water Extract is an easy way to apply the castings.
It extracts the goodness from the castings but does not “expand it” as does Non-Aerated-Castings-Tea or Aerated-Castings-Tea.
Instructions: Put one in a watering can or bucket of water, allow to steep for 10 minutes then water onto your garden.
Preferably the water has been de-chlorinated first, by leaving in an open bucket in the yard for 24 hours or by using store-bought drops to treat it; or using rain water.
You can do this a few times, but you will extract less “goodness” each time.
Easily use it 3 times in a row on the same day.
You can also “brew” an Aerated Castings Tea that can be applied to up to 650 square metres as a foliar feed.
After use, tip the contents onto a plant or two, wash the bag out and reuse it with your own worm castings or compost.
Non-Aerated Castings Tea:
Non-Aerated-Castings-Tea expands the valuable microbiology in the castings. Bacteria alone can double in population every 40 minutes.
Using no fancy equipment, brew the tea bag so it can be applied to up to 650 square metres of garden.
NACT takes longer to brew than Aerated-Castings-Tea and it is more work, but it gives almost as good of a Tea.
Instructions: see the Aerated Castings Tea Quick Start Instructions supplied with the product.
Aerated-Castings-Tea:
Aerated-Castings-Tea expands the valuable microbiology in the castings. Bacteria alone can double in population every 40 minutes.
Using an aquarium air pump and aerator (available separately) brew the tea bag in 24 hours to apply to up to 650 square metres of garden.
Instructions: see the Aerated Castings Tea Quick Start Instructions supplied with the product.
Storage:
Keep the Tea Bags moist and they will last several months. Of course, as it is a living product, it is best used ASAP. Keep it wrapped in moist newspaper. Use some scrunched newspaper or an egg carton to provide space in the moist wrapping, so it has moisture AND air in the wrapping.
Cleaning & Care:
Wash out the brewer, tea bag, aerators and all equipment used thoroughly.
Let air dry in the sun for a few hours, then store in a cool dark place.
Comes With:
Written Aerated Castings Tea Quick Start Instructions.
Mini Tea Bags each come with approx. 1 cup worm castings.
Filled by volume, contents may settle in transit.
Care Of The Bags / Service Life
The bags are well made and have been tested by Brian to ensure they last many brews.
Of course, some care IS needed, like:
- do not lift a full bag of castings with the string closure, especially when they have been in the brew as they are really heavy and you may rip the string or damage the bag.
- wash the bag out right after using to ensure any biofilm is gone and let the bag air dry, place it in the afternoon sun for a couple of hours to sterilise it in the UV rays.
- don’t leave the bag in the sun longer than a few hours or the sun may damage it over time – store it in a cool dark place.
