Hi Brian,
I hope you are having a lovely week.
I am an axolotl owner and I am looking for some healthy nightcrawlers and yours look awesome. I haven’t been very lucky with some of the earthworm containers I got from the pet shop lately, some were dead. I have one axolotl and she can eat one earthworm a day. If I buy 50 of your African nightcrawlers, will I be able to keep them healthy for 50 days? Until my axolotl finishes them? If so, how can I keep them? I don’t have a worm farm because I live in an apartment but happy to set up what needed to keep the worms well.
Thank you.
Hi Nagore,
If you make a baitr bucket like in my instructions, they will last 30 to 60 days – Ive had some in a bucket like that for 3 months – what kills them is if they get too hot or too cold.
I now stock a stick on thermometer to monitor your worms’ temperature ($5 in the SHOP.)
Here are the instructions that come in the tracking email, note I send a piece of CHUX material to put between the lid and the bucket.
Thanks for asking your question.
For BAIT WORMS:
YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE A BAIT BUCKET TO PUT THEM IN – There Are Instructions on my website, linked below:
What to do right away when the worms arrive – https://thewormman.com.au/shipping-worms-what-to-do-when-they-arrive/
Making a bait worm bucket – https://thewormman.com.au/how-to-make-a-fishing-bait-bucket-for-worms/
Note – I send a piece of “chux” material with each bag of worms in the order.
Note – Bunnings sells these buckets (for $5), if you cant find one at home for free – they are very much the same as the buckets I give out to local customers.
I cant send one to you as they won’t fit in the packages): https://www.bunnings.com.au/handy-pail-2-3l-handy-pail-with-lid_p4460008
A 2 litre ice cream bucket makes a great worm bucket, following my directions – the chux makes the lid a bit fiddly to put on, is all.
