Hi Kyle,
(I communicated back and forth a little with Kyle on this matter – here is the gist of the conversation:)
Brian:
If you’ve got a lot of dead worms in a bin and you can easily pull them out, yes, it’s better to.
If it’s only a few it doesn’t matter, they just decompose.
Adding more cardboard usually corrects several things that would kill worms….
Kyle said:
I bought two containers of red worms from Wal-Mart when I got them they were balled up
They looked like they died of protein poison I look in one container at Wal-Mart of red worms and some had protein poison.
Brian:
You need to identify WHY they died if you can, and fix the things that made that happen.
It’s great that it’s only a local problem to those 2 little containers of worms – but highlights what I tell my own local customers – you’re better off buying FRESH worms from the grower, picked just for your order, than to buy some off a shelf that have been sitting for who knows how long.
Thanks for asking your question Kyle !
regards
Brian
