Shipping Worms – What To Do When They Arrive

Spread the love

What to do right away when you receive the worms:

Thanks for ordering worms from me.

What to do first:

A Quick Word On Temperatures:
* Worms MUST BE kept in a cool, dark place in summer – and a warm dark place in winter.
Essentially, they must be kept between 15 and 25 Degrees Celsius*

*Do NOT Leave In A Hot Car – Make A Bait Worm Esky*

*** Give the worms some moisture

You need to give the dry cardboard a little water. It should be *just* moist – like a wrung out dish sponge.
If you squeeze a handful, only a couple of drops, to about 6 drops at the most should come out.
Make it too wet and they may suffer and die.

The worms are shipped in a pocket of moist, shredded cardboard, in the middle of 2 pockets of dry shredded cardboard. This is to promote air supply and add padding while in the postal system.

If you are putting them into a bait worm bucket, you only need as much cardboard as will fill it 3/4 of the way; you want to leave an air gap above the cardboard.

If you are going to leave them in the calico bag, and just put that right into another bucket – you need to give the dry cardboard a little water. It should be *just* moist – like a wrung out dish sponge.

*** If you are putting the bag of worms in a bucket, leave the lid of the other bucket cracked open for air – or follow my instructions on making a bait bucket.
