Worm Farming & Composting At Home – Half Day Workshop

Worm Farming & Composting reduces household waste and helps gardens to thrive.
This course will be of interest to keen gardeners, who want to recycle their waste into a beneficial soil conditioner containing plant available nutrients and several naturally occurring plant rooting & growth hormones.
Join commercial worm farmer Brian Donaldson in this half day workshop, as he shares his practical knowledge, tips and tricks for setting up your own safe and efficient worm farm and compost heap at home, and shows you how to avoid some of the common mistakes people make.
This Workshop Includes:
- All students receive a printed Student’s Handbook including over 70 pages of information.
- Included is a tour of the composting & worm farming facilities at Northey Street.
- Brian teaches how to make several worm farm types with materials you may already have at home, or be able to gain for free from the waste stream and how to avoid common mistakes with them.
- We will also briefly study making aerated castings tea and easier liquid applications such as non-aerated castings tea, castings water extracts and weed teas (anaerobic teas.).
Timing / Length
The Workshop runs from 9am to 12pm, with a short break at 10 am and includes a tour of Northey Streets composting & worm farm facilities.
What Is The Cost?
$60 each student / $45 for concession card holders, plus a small booking fee through Eventbrite.
Add-Ons Available On The Day:
Limited stocks of several types of worm farms made from the waste stream, with worm packs will be available on the day.

Biography:
Brian is a local commercial Worm Farmer, educator & author, based at Collingwood Park.
Brian has kept worms for over 25 years, turning it into a business in 2013. He is now a full time worm farmer & educator. Brian is the author of several E-books about Worm Farming.
He is well known from the years of help he has given people through several major worm farming Facebook groups, as well as the events and workshops he holds in many places.
Brian supplies worms, vermicast & worm farms locally and supplies worms throughout Australia via post.
As an Educator, he works with councils, gardening clubs and agricultural stake holders such as Landcare.
Brian is a trainer for several Brisbane Council programs such as Master Composters and conducts kid’s holiday educational activity programs through the council parks system and events such as the Brisbane Garden & Plant Expo
He is qualified in two Horticulture disciplines and is also a qualified Horticulture Trainer (TAE40116).
