Hello Brian, love the site, guides and faq’s.
my question is, after the pain and long drawn out process of harvesting a wormcity stacking bin system I wanted to get into a cft.
my nearest wheelie bin became the sacrifice and was setup with 2″ CB at the base then up to 12″ bedding followed by my remaining wormcity worms with a further 2″ bedding over them.
since then I have seen you make your bedding moist? All mine was added dry apart from the existing wormcity contents.
do you think I should damp it down or allow the feedings to add the moisture over time?
im in the uk so not exactly hot and dry! 🙂
best regards
jez
Hi Jez
You can either moisten bedding as you add it to start a new farm, or apply some moisture afterwards.
Just be careful as you don;t want that cardboard base over the bars to break down too quick.
Yes – you can just allow the feedings to provide the moisture needed, or apply a little extra water from a watering can if it is getting too dry.
I would be giving it a little watering now, then again in 3 or 4 days, then again in 4 to 7 days after that (If you havent added water to the bedding as you’ve layered it into the farm.
Thanks for the kind words
And thanks for asking your question
Regards
Brian
