Hi brian. Im going away for 2 months (june and juIy in southern  tasmania) and leaving my worm farm ( bunnings round worm farm with drip tray plus 2 upper rays) unattended. What do i need to do to preserve my worms until my return?
Currently positiond under a tree in back garden. Will be in shade for winter protected mostly from frost. Currently placed open wood slates on top feeder lid with cover In top to protect from summer sun. Gap between to allow some airflow via peforated air holes in lid. Should akso protect from excessive rainfall and frost.

Hi Mark
Your issues will likely be drying out of the bedding; needing extra food; and the cold.
Maybe you could:
– find a more protected spot from cold and wind
– put a largish amount of new damp bedding in the farm – do you have an empty tray, if so put that on and half fill it with damp new bedding
– feed heavily up one end of the farm, in the pocket feeding method (www.TheWormMan.com.au/help – beginners info sheet)

Usually when people get non-worm-farmers to look after their farm, they love them to death.
Its a hard decision to make – best of luck

Regards
Brian
